Joining Forces for Preserving the Gothic Choirs Heritage

Joining Forces for Preserving Cultural Heritage in the Gothic Choirs

We are joining forces with some leading European Cultural Departments to develop high-impact projects aimed at protecting the cultural heritage of the remaining Gothic Choirs.

Last June we had an interesting meeting in Radboud University in Nijmegen, where the Spanish Gothic Stalls was briefly presented to the members of the Department of Art History of the Faculty of Arts: Willy Piron, Christel Theunissen and  Jos Koldeweij. We agreed to collaborate together in developing the Project as well as extending it to a wide range as including the few remaining stalls in the Netherlands and maybe Belgium too. The aim is to find partners to collaborate and also seek for European Funds for the completion of the Project.  The Project of Digitization of Choir Stalls is a perfect way for keeping this heritage for its Preservation, Study and Research.

The project will be presented to the members of Misericordia International at the next General Meeting to be held in Paris in September with the title "TOWARDS A VIRTUAL REPRESENTATION OF THE GOTHIC CHOIRS: A Challenge and a tool for Studying and Heritage Preservation"

The Department of Architectural Representation in the ETSAB of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - UPC  with Isidro Navarro also has demonstrated interest in supporting the Project as well as back a personal Doctorate in the Visual Representation of the Choir environments and its Digitization. The result of this proposal will be transmitted in September.
